Position Title: Teaching and Learning Champion (TLC)

Department: Curriculum Area

Introduction: The Teaching and Learning Champion (TLC) role is designed to enhance the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment (TLA) across the Group. TLCs will leverage their expertise and enthusiasm to improve educational experiences. This is a volunteer role with no pay or remission, but TLCs will receive high-level training, access to external events and networks, and opportunities to contribute ideas to the Group's wider workings.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Enhancing Student Experiences:

Collaborate with colleagues to identify and implement innovative teaching strategies.

Support the development and dissemination of best practices in TLA.

Ensure students benefit from high-quality educational experiences.

2. Collaboration and Support:

Provide mentorship and support to colleagues new to their curriculum area.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

Share practices, ideas, and work on collaborative projects to enhance teaching practices and resources.

3. Contribution to Strategic Goals:

Implement the PRISM Principles of Great Teaching.

Embed these principles in everyday teaching practices.

Promote a consistent and high-quality learning experience for all students.

Role Demands

There are no KPIs for the role, this is a champion role where you will act and be recognised as a role model for your team and wider colleagues.

You will be asked to attend a TLC workshop each term where the full team will come together for elevated CPD with externals, sharing practice and project sessions. This will take place on a Wednesday outside of teaching hours.

You will not need to complete any administrative duties for this role nor report in any official way. You will be asked to contribute to the Teaching and Learning MS Community Teams page and keep in touch with the Quality team where we can support your developing practice.

Recruitment Process:

Interested teachers and assessors should complete the internal application form outlining their motivation and suitability for this role.

Heads of Curriculum will need to endorse the applications for staff in their areas.

Professional discussions will take place with all interested parties to identify appropriate TLCs

TLCs are recruited for one academic year* with annual expressions of interest required.
